ABOUT FRANKSTON CHESS CLUB
The Frankston Chess Club is a non profit organisation incorporated association under the Victorian Incorporations Act 1981 and currently is covered for Public indemnity insurance. The club is affiliated with Chess Victoria and the Australian Chess Federation. The club’s aim is to promote chess in the Frankston and surrounding areas.
The club meets every Friday evening at 200 Beach street – Leawarra House – which is diagonally opposite Ashleigh Drive and the IGA supermarket. Melway Reference is H3 on Map 102.
Club nights are on Fridays – except public holidays from 6:30PM to about midnight.
The club caters for all age and provides competition and social chess for both seniors and juniors and has built up strong links with other community groups, and the Frankston City Council. Currently the club has about 60 members ranging from ages 6 to 80 years old. In addition the club provides structured activities - chess tournaments, chess lessons and other chess activities for both juniors and seniors. The club engages a chess coach (a volunteer) who conducts teaching sessions on a Friday. It also participates in council events - such as the Water Front Festival, Mayors Picnic and the Teddy Bears picnic.
The chess club is run entirely by volunteers. Please be free to come along and either participate in a chess tournament , listen in on chess lessons or come and play chess socially.
We also have a social backgammon club which runs at the same time as the chess club. You are welcome to come along and play some backgammon. Contact Keith Pyke on 97899727
